Club Dinner May 15th 2004.

Below is a selection of photos from the more sober part of the afternoon, before the camera got put away. Everyone who received a trophy and was photographed should receive a print of that picture, courtesy of Llantwit Fardre RFC. Additional prints can be purchased, the same size or up to A3, and details are at the bottom of this page. Remember that once paper and ink costs are taken out, any profit made goes back into the club for your benefit.

Table Layout provided by the staff of The University Of Glamorgan who did an excellent job, as did the Llantwit bar staff and steward.

The food hasn't arrived yet but it was prawn cocktail, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, new potatoes, selection of vegetables, apple tart and cream, cheese and biscuits, coffee. The wine, which was plentiful, was kindly donated by Cellar Wines.

JOHN MARSH Chairman of Llantwit Fardre RFC gave the Chairman's address, thanked the guests and sponsors and proposed the toast.

GARIN JENKINS of Ynysybwl, Pontypool, Pontypridd, Swansea and Wales was the after dinner speaker and kept all amused with jokes, tales and anecdotes - especially the 'hard hat at the Millennium' story.

MARK GOODFIELD - A special award for having held the post of Club Secretary for ten years. Presented by Keith Burnell, President of Llantwit Fardre RFC.

JEFF LEWIS - A special award for his past feat of three years as Chairman. Presented by Keith Burnell, President of Llantwit Fardre RFC.

MARK GOODFIELD - A special award for something but I was beginning to lose the plot at this point. No doubt Mark will tell me what it was for. Presented by Keith Burnell, President of Llantwit Fardre RFC.

FRED WICKS - Grants were slashed, money was tight but Freddie was tighter ! Our treasurer got us through some tough times during which we saw the demise of other clubs in our division. A special award presented by Keith Burnell, President of Llantwit Fardre RFC.

FRED WICKS - Give a treasurer a microphone and he'll start asking the gathered crowd for money - Freddies acceptance speach.

MICHAEL THOMAS Winner of the 2003-4 trophy (Donated by AG Insurance) for TOP POINTS SCORER, presented at the club dinner by Mark Goodfield.

ROBERT KOTYLA Winner of the 2003-4 trophy (donated by Alf Boast) for TOP TRY SCORER presented at the club dinner to Simon Bayliss in Rob's abscence by Alf Boast.

ROSS GOLDSWORTHY Winner of the 2003-4 David Davies Special Award (Donated by Ian Bird) for MOST IMPROVED PLAYER. Award presented by Nigel O'Sullivan

ROSS GOLDSWORTHY with Greg Prosser. Greg demanded the microphone (nobody said no) and gave an excellent speach ,from a veteran to a young one, on the difficult transition between youth rugby and senior rugby, how well Ross had done in that transition, and the fact that there are always players willing to help youth players through that transition.

ANDREW EVANS has taken to wearing a thong during matches, gaining the reputation throughout South Wales as "The hooker with no visible panty line." To commemerate this fact his team mates presented him with a 'Golden Thong' to bring him luck in the coming season.
